Hello and welcome to The Daily Forehand's Open Thread for Day 5 of the 2010 US Open.  Time flies, doesn't it?

Day 5 is made up of third round matches from the bottom of the Women's Singles draw, and second round matches from the top of the Men's Singles.  Seeds will collide for the first time, in four of the eight women's matches on tap for today.

Here's hoping Earl arrives late or never.

As per usual, I will be tweeting away about the day's doings (@DailyForehand), so follow there if you're in the mood for musings forced into brevity.

Harrison looks good.

His backhand worries me though. Besides that, very good game.
Isner is in trouble.
Querrey should make a good run here.

I loved how Roddick flipped because she said his left foot faulted,

Not that he faulted, which he admitted he probably did. Just the linesperson got the foot wrong. But that was awesome. Seriously. I love A-Rod for that.

I gotta say

this Harrison match is quite epic. It’s nice to see the American crowd helping him toward the win.

Still a hell of an effort from Harrison. Expect big thing from him in the future, for sure.

Liked the fight I saw in Harrison. That has been missing from American tennis.

This Venus Williams dress is really one of the most out there I’ve ever seen.

Istomin played an absolutely ridiculous shot

at 4-1 to make it 5-1 in the TB. Loses TB 7-5.

As expected

another hugely entertaining match from Nadal. That tiebeak almost made me cry with excitement. On a side note, I’m glad Anna Ivanovic won her match as it’s always nice to see more Ivanovic :) It’s just too bad Clijsters is going to make quick work of her.
