Wimbledon Day 9 Open Thread And Discussion

LONDON, ENGLAND - JUNE 29: Kim Clijsters of Belgium in action during her Quarter Final match against Vera Zvonareva of Russia on Day Eight of the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on June 29, 2010 in London, England. A blockbuster slate of men's matches is on tap for Day 9.  Whereas the Australian and US Opens both split the men's quarters over four sessions, Wimbledon does them all at once.  It's frustrating in that it's impossible to see all the matches in full, but its awesome in that it's a great day to binge on tennis.

Whereas yesterday's women's actions looked sure to be surprise-less (and weren't), this day of men's matches looks far more primed for upsets.  Federer and Nadal, especially, will have their hands full.

To read my preview of the matches and follow updates all day long over at SBNation.com/tennis, click here.

This is going to be a good day!

What do you think the most entertaining matches will be?

Ok...

I seriously hope it’s not going to be another day of silence on this open thread.

As a long-time Tomas Berdych bandwagon occupant...

I’m glad that my Wimbledon prediction is going well. Now I need Soderling to fight back against Nadal for a Berdych-Soderling final.

Looks like it might be Berdych’s time to win a big one

Federer falls

Not THAT surprising considering it was Berdych, but I’m always surprised when he loses early at Wimby. Lets go Soderling & Berdych final (although I’ll settle for Tsonga too).

Ryan Miller was the true MVP.

Another surprising day. I thought Soderling woudl be able to down Nadal. Djokovic may benefit from the Lu upset over Roddick, as he was able to breeze through his match.
