While The Family Circle Cup lost its top seed when Serena Williams pulled out with a lingering injury and lost a big draw when Maria Sharapova withdrew, former world number 1 and tournament #2 seed Jelena Jankovic is excited to be back in Charleston.

Jankovic won this title back in 2007 and is off to a good start to 2010. She won the big event in Indian Wells about four weeks ago defeating Family Circle Cup #1 seed Caroline Wozniacki in the finals.

Jankovic says she feels healthy and rested and is looking forward to the clay court season. She had a spirited practice session Sunday afternoon on the Stadium Court with her hitting partner and coach Chip Brooks. It looks like she has found a good coach in Brooks who works with the IMG Academy in Florida. Brooks' laid back but business-like approach to tennis is something Jankovic appreciates.

I'm sure Jankovic also appreciates the draw that has been put in front of her in Charleston. She opens playing the winner of a match between Varvara Lepchenko and Edina Gallovits. The round of 16 may have Melinda Czink waiting for her and the quarterfinals may pit her against rival Daniela Hantuchova. A semi against Marion Bartoli or Sam Stosur wouldn't phase Jankovic, but she is going to take one match at a time.

Should be great weather and great tennis this week in Charleston, and Jelena Jankovic is planning on making the most of it.
