Federer and Tsonga

I think Fed beats Davydenko just because I think Fed’s playing a lot better right now and gets really serious in the slams.

I’m less sure about Tsonga, but I think when he’s healthy he’s maybe the most athletic player and can make just crazy shots. I think Djokovich’s easy draw hurts him because he won’t be quite ready for such a difficult match. Should be a great one, though.

Lets make it 8 in a row. I’m coming for your 23 straight, Federer!

I’m a little worried about Venus now. She was up a set and a break.

by hornbone on Jan 26, 2010 8:58 PM EST reply actions

She seems to be playing okay, though. There’s time.

Two Chinese semifinalists. Wow.

Li played well, but Venus really choked there.

Definitely impressive comeback from Serena. I wonder if have Venus playing right before her and losing may have had an effect, its hard to say because she has done it before, but she came out flat, and Azaranka came out on fire. I usually don’t watch the entire match until the replay the next day, but I caught the beginning and the end, so I got to see the best of both players. I look forward to watching it all tommorow.

Looking ahead..

Do you think this match makes Li have more confidence knowing Azaranka was able to break serve, and get up a set and a half, or worry her more knowing how Williams came back with a vengeance in that game.

by wisco87 on Jan 27, 2010 1:12 AM EST reply actions

I think it makes her look more vulnerable than she did before. She had looked totally invincible earlier this week, and while she still won today she did look a lot more beatable.

Good point. I think this will be an interesting mental match. Serena getting some expierence in a closs match may prove helpful, and getting the comeback, and Li knowing Serena’s serve can be broken/lose a set.

by wisco87 on Jan 27, 2010 1:40 AM EST up reply actions

Whoa, Davydenko already up two breaks. 4-1.

What a crazy day that was.

Li Na comes back and beats Venus, Serena comes back to beat Azarenka, Federer comes back to beat Davydenko, and Tsonga comes back to beat Djokovich. I love the Australian Open. There’s something about the first major of the year. Players are often a little rusty or just not in the groove yet, and other players are more healthy than they were the year before, making for some crazy matches.
