Winning a trophy bigger than the tournament itself, Nikolay Davydenko defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-3, 6-0 Sunday to take home the Studena Croatia Open title in Umag.
Davydenko was presented the trophy by Croatian president Stipe Mesić, which makes it two weeks in a row now that a Balkan head of state has presented a trophy at a small tennis tournament. Don't they have anything else to be doing?
It was Davydenko's second title in two weeks, proving once and for all that nobody does better in small, out of place clay events than he does.
