US Open Odds--Who's the Best Bet?

Here are the odds from William Hill for the outright winners of the 2009 US Open singles titles.

Who strikes you as the best bets? In other words, who is the most undervalued player here?

For me it's Andy Roddick and Jelena Jankovic.

In terms of worst bargain, I'd go with Rafael Nadal at 4/1.

What do you think?

Tsonga at 20/1? I think thats the biggest bargain. Especially with his play in Montreal

Fehr is fair, but I like Laich

Tsonga got beaten by guccione in cinci so I don’t think he’s that good atm : ). Roddick for sure del po doesn’t seem to have the stamina for 5 sets.

I’d take Clijsters and Murray. Clijsters might just be coming back but she looks pretty good. And her mentality is better than most I think. Murray’s the obvious favorite for me, so 3-1 looks pretty good. And what is it with Jankovic? For me she has NO chance.

Jankovic just won Cincinnati, which had a field that included just about everybody on this list. On her way to the title she beat Azarenka, Safina, and Dementieva, all of whom are ahead of her here. I have no doubt she would beat Sharapova if they were to meet, as well.

She’s also one of the very few players who doesn’t cower against the Williamses. I don’t think she’s the favorite to win the title, but I do think she has a much better shot than 16/1, which is what makes her the best bet in my mind.

If I want to make some money, I’d take Clijsters and Djokovic. If Serena falls early, Kim might be a good bet. And outside the obvious for the men, Novak might be worth a shot. But, I’d wait on Novak until I see how things end in Cincy.

I'll take Djokovic at 10/1

He’s still young and a year ago seemed a sure bet to win multiple majors. His play has defiantly dipped, but never count him out of a harcourt tournament. Although I still think Fed’s gonna win it.

I dunno about the women’s… Venus? Safina?
