No one I can think of has dropped out of the upper echelon of tennis harder or faster than Nicole Vaidisova. The two-time grand slam semifinalist and former world #7 made the quarterfinals at Wimbledon as recently as 2008, but has since fallen well outside the top 100. Saturday's loss in the first round of qualifying at Stanford to world #584 Stacey Tan hopefully represents rock bottom. Vaidisova only won three games during the forty-eight minute rout. It's hard to imagine things getting much worse. After all, she is still only twenty years old.
