Poor Vince Spadea. Not only did he win only 25% of the points in his first round loss to Robert Kendrick, he was also double bageled in thirty-six minutes, which is a short amount of time for one set, let alone two.
While not often taken seriously in many tennis circles, the 35-year old Spadea was ranked a hugely respectable #81 at the beginning of 2009, a ranking that has since fallen to #134. Despite this plunge he managed to win his first round match at Wimbledon against Paul Capdeville in straight sets, before falling to #29 seed Igor Andreev.
He's also had some pretty incredible losses this year, against players like Fritz Wolmarans, Tatsuma Ito, Andis Juska, Pierre-Ludovic Duclos, and Colin Ebelthite, none of whom are ranked inside the top 250.
Sad to say it, but I'm guessing Spadea will hang up his racquet by the end of the year. But with his personality, hopefully he'll have someone hand him a microphone.

I was watching the scoreboard update on this one
Unbelievable how quick that match was. I think Kendrick can upset Dudi Sela in the next round
Spadea ain't afraid a ya'
I read that Spadea wants to start working his way into the top-100 now, and that he’d like to play another 3 or 4 years. This was not a step in the right direction however. The double bagel is tough to swallow.

I would miss Spadea
I hope he can keep playing because he is fun to watch. If he can’t, I agree he would be a great addition to a broadcasting team.
